OUR PLATFORM

No To Zero for the Arts is an emerging alliance of artists, arts organizations, audiences and advocates pushing for progressive policies in support of Philadelphia’s people, communities, and grassroots organizations.

No To Zero for the Arts believes that a People’s Bail Out in Philadelphia *IS* an arts bailout.

No To Zero for the Arts believes Black Lives Matter and stands in solidarity with everyone demonstrating against police violence, police militarization, racism, white supremacy, and widespread injustice, believing that our communities deserve increased support, not the police. #DefundPPD

No To Zero for the Arts rejects ideology that pits the arts against essential human services for the people of Philadelphia. We can, and must, have both!

No To Zero for the Arts believes that investing in Philadelphia’s communities, including its grassroots arts organizations, is essential to a just COVID-19 recovery plan

No To Zero for the Arts rejects the austerity measures of Philadelphia’s proposed 2021 budget and supports bold policies to fully fund city and social services, including the arts.

No To Zero for the Arts recognizes the need for Philadelphia’s grassroots arts and culture organizations to endorse The People’s Platform for a Just Philadelphia and work in solidarity with the city’s racial, economic, and social justice groups fighting for progressive change.

No To Zero for the Arts believes the impact and importance of arts and culture organizations can not be summarized by economic-impact statistics alone.

No To Zero for the Arts believes we need imaginative leadership in our city and in our arts institutions who still believe in the possibility of a dedicated fund for grassroots arts and culture in Philadelphia, despite past defeats.

No To Zero for the Arts believes a dedicated fund for the arts can be achieved through structural changes to tax policy, without putting the tax-burden on workers or ticket-buyers.

No To Zero for the Arts believes that to achieve any of these things, we must first dream and speak them into existence.
